Japanese White Pine
This is another iconic variety of bonsai conifer, highly prized at Japanese national exhibitions. Less vigorous than black pine, it also makes smaller needles. Their import was strictly forbidden, we chose local production in our nursery. Some have been cultivated for more than 20 years in order to form their massive trunk. The pentaphylla pine gets its name from its needles, grouped in packs of 5 (instead of 2 like the majority of other pines). This allows you to quickly have a nice densification, with fewer buds, which is a real advantage. Its tops can easily be shaped via ligature because the wood is quite soft.
