Atlas Cedar
Cedar has a lovely dark green color typical of the species. The characteristic shape of this conifer in bonsai is the formal straight, i.e. a perfectly straight trunk. But it is possible to vary the forms, and we offer a few examples of informal straight style. Cedar is interesting in bonsai because although it is slow growing, it has short needles, and produces well-stocked trays of foliage when properly cultivated. Cedar is not very well represented in bonsai, probably because it is not a species traditionally cultivated by the Japanese. It is still interesting and we produce many of them in our nursery.
