Data sheet
The dawn redwood, also known as the Japanese coast redwood or water fir, is a bonsai tree native to China that was once thought to be extinct. Its rediscovery in 1941 in the Sichuan region of China caused a sensation. The dawn redwood is known for its rapid growth, elegant conical shape, and light green, needle-like leaves that turn bronze in the fall before dropping.
