The Japanese oak "Quercus acutissima", is a popular choice for bonsai due to its natural appearance and hardiness.
In bonsai, it is distinguished by its finely toothed leaves, which may shrink over time, and its bark, which becomes more textured with age, giving it a very authentic, mature appearance. Its relatively vigorous growth allows for shaping, but it requires patience to achieve fine and harmonious branching.
Its foliage is marcescent, meaning that in autumn the leaves wither, curl, and turn brown but do not fall; they will detach the following spring, pushed aside by the emergence of new leaves.

The oak tree in bonsai
It is the oak of our countryside, of our forests, and contrary to popular belief it is quite possible to make magnificent bonsai from it. Over the years, it develops a massive trunk with strong scaffold branches that evoke all the power of this tree.
It is quite easy to grow. Its only drawback is that it is susceptible to powdery mildew, a fungus that grows on the leaves and forms like a white felt. It appears when heat and humidity are present, so avoid overwatering the leaves of your oak.

The photos are contractual, i.e. the tree and pot you see in the photo is really the one you are going to receive. To find out the dimension, refer to the scale on the side. Each product is unique, so they are referenced by numbers to differentiate them.
