The advantages of our bonsai nursery

All bonsai are produced in our large nursery in Lot-et-Garonne. They are therefore perfectly adapted to the French climate, which is not always the case with Japanese imports.

We have over 3,000 bonsai for sale at the nursery and tens of thousands in cultivation and under construction.

Cultivation Advice

I live exclusively outdoors, all year round. I love the sun. Give me a bright spot, with a few hours of full sun each day, so I can bloom generously. However, in summer, spare me dry, strong winds, and give me some shade on the hottest afternoons. In winter, I am sensitive to the cold. If temperatures drop below zero, bring me inside a cool veranda or a bright, frost-free room. The cold can make my leaves turn red: don't worry, they will fall off and grow back in spring.

Watering is essential for my health. I like my soil to be always moist, but not soggy. Check on me daily, and don't hesitate to water me every day if necessary as soon as the weather is hot. Make sure the water reaches my roots by watering the entire root ball in several times or by giving me a quick bath of a few seconds.

But be careful : no saucer and no standing water, otherwise my roots risk rotting. Make sure the water drains well under the pot.

Winter : Thanks to the rain and cold, I require less water. Just make sure my soil doesn't dry out completely.

Depending on my rhythm and the instructions on the envelope, I'll grow for 2 to 3 years, in the spring, just before I start growing again. When repotting, take the opportunity to prune my roots a little if necessary.

Use a well-draining substrate (akadama, pumice, etc.) and/or a water-retaining substrate (potting soil, peat, etc.) depending on your region.

At the nursery, I grow in a mixture of black peat, blond peat, topsoil, horse manure, and pozzolan.

I grow quickly, so don't hesitate to prune me to keep my shape compact. Prune my branches after flowering to encourage a new flush of buds. Regularly remove weak or misplaced shoots to maintain my elegant silhouette.

My possible styles :

Moyogi style (informal upright) : My natural flexibility allows me to take on soft and harmonious curves.

Semi-cascade style (han-kengai) : My slender branches fall elegantly, perfect for expressing grace.

Multi-trunk style (sokan) : I can form a delicate clump that evokes a small flowering grove.

I need fertilizer about every two months, from spring through fall, to keep my plants in tip-top shape. In my nursery, I fertilize with a universal organic and chemical blend, such as tomato fertilizer (NPK 12, 12, 17).
